Policy Principles

Liberty, Prosperity, and Virtue. These are the three principles by which we analyze all policy, to determine if it is in alignment with our world view of New England nationalism. We intend to remind government of these principles at every opportunity, and educate the citizenry on this framework to produce a proud, industrious, and righteous citizenry of New England.

What is New England Nationalism?

New England Nationalism is the recognition that with the arrival of our Puritan forefathers on American shores in 1620, the seeds of the six states of New England were planted under a distinct ethnic, cultural, and religious identity, for the glory of God and preservation of our people. The Puritans did not merely seek religious freedom, for they had obtained that already in Holland. They wanted to practice their faith in peace, as Englishmen. This identity was developed and grew to maturity in the following three centuries, to produce the unique spirit possessed by New England and her native inhabitants today. As nationalism is defined as “a devotion to one’s nation”, a New England Nationalist is therefore a man of that common New England heritage, faith, and culture, who is dedicated to the preservation and advancement of New England and her people.

What is Liberty?

Liberty is the defining value of the overall American ethos. This is most often expressed through the desire of all common people across America to simply be left alone, to live their lives in peace. Liberty, however, is no mere license to do as one pleases, but a God given fundamental duty that must be exercised by all free men of a nation. Properly understood, it is the freedom to pursue excellence. Free men must build, and with their life’s energy continually contribute to the preservation and advancement of their civilization. The man that does not contribute to his society, but rather spends his time in idleness or the pursuit of hedonistic pleasure, has failed in his duty, and is not worthy of his own freedom. Liberty is the planting of the vineyard.

What is Prosperity?

Prosperity is the full spectrum of human success, economically, socially, and spiritually. A man is not entitled to guaranteed outcomes, but to the fruits of his own honest labor. An honest government operating with the paradigm of New England nationalism, will not seek to take from those who have and give to those who have not to create “equity”, but rather to clear the field of obstacles, so that the citizenry can pursue and achieve prosperity through their own efforts. This was the model of our forefathers, which enabled New England to achieve her manifest destiny. Prosperity is the fruit of the vineyard.

What is Virtue?

Virtue is the practice of our liberty, which begets our prosperity. It is the fundamental value that all citizens must possess, in order to be positively contributing members of society. Our virtue in New England is founded on our deep Puritan roots, which many today understand through “The protestant work ethic” or “Yankee sensibility” For our Puritan forefathers, a man’s labor was his worship to God, and thus through his diligent use of liberty he produced prosperity for himself, and his posterity. By blood and faith, was New England born. Virtue is the tending of the vineyard.
